The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art SFMOMA has announced a brand new series of evening events which will be held on Thursday beginning March 18, 2010. The events series is scheduled for three initial events offering a sophisticated museum experience for late-night guests. The SFMOMA recently celebrated its 75th anniversary as a leading art institute and has added the new event series and several cutting edge exhibitions to its yearly calendar.

The new event series, Now Playing, invites artists to animate the museum in unusual ways while inviting audiences to visit the museum and experience the space in a unique manner. Museum visitors are invited to peruse the galleries, watch live performances and unwind with cocktails and food. The museum's atrium will be transformed into a projection chamber, a hidden annex will become a lounge and artists will be the architecture.

Each of the three events is free with museum admission and include live entertainment, drop-in film screenings in the museum's theatre and curator led talks. Museum admission during these events grants the attendee access to all galleries, complimentary snacks by local restaurants and cocktails from multiple cash bars. The museum's new rooftop garden will also serve artisinal menu's prepared by Blue Bottle Coffee Co. and Meat Paper magazine. The Now Playing events begin at 7:00 pm and more information can be found by visiting sfmoma.org.
