The 34th Annual American Indian Film Festival will take place November 6th to 14th at the San Francisco. Landmark Embarcadero Center Cinema, located at One Embarcadero Center. Created in 1975, the American Indian Film Festival has featured over 2000 films since its inception. This years festival will premiere over 80 films, shorts, music videos and documentaries. The Only Good Indian, starring Wes Studi, will be the feature film of the festival.
Founded in 1979, the American Indian Film Institute (AIFI) is a non-profit media arts center whose mission is to foster awareness and understanding of the culture and traditions of contemporary Native Americans. Although the first "American Indian Day" was celebrated in 1916, it was not until decades later that an entire month was designated. In 1990, President George H. W. Bush signed a resolution designating November as "National American Indian Heritage Month."
