Monterey Tour from San Francisco by Bus Description |

Experience California's beautiful coastline on the Monterey Tour from San Francisco by Bus. Departing from San Francisco's Ferry Building, Embarcadero, this Monterey Tour from San Francisco takes the Pacific Ocean Drive from San Francisco down to Monterey Bay. Prepare to experience another side of California as you take in the amazing coastal views passing towns such as Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. Along this drive you will get a chance to view the world's largest elephant seal breeding ground. You will pass by pumpkin patches and strawberry farms and also see some of the most famous surfing locations in the the United States of America.
We'll make a short stop along the way at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse to hear the story of the 1853 shipwreck and take in the rugged coastal views and some fresh ocean air. Once you arrive in Monterey, you will be treated to a guided walk around both the town's Historic District and Cannery Row. This is the ONLY tour of Monterey & Carmel which includes 3 'on-site' walking tours! Monterey is regarded as one of the most historical areas on the west coast and your guide will be happy to reveal the facts that contribute to Monterey's historical significance.
After your guided walks around Monterey, you will be free to take advantage of the fantastic dining opportunities Monterey restaurants have to offer. Be sure to sample the freshest seafood around! Following your lunch-break in Monterey, your tour will continue along the famous 17-Mile Drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The 17-Mile Drive will provide stunning views of the Pacific Ocean as well as passing by some world famous golf courses, including the renowned Pebble Beach Golf Course (host of the 2010 U.S. Open Golf Tournament).
Along the drive, your tour guide will also point out and explain some of the interesting vegetation in this area such as the Lone Cypress Tree, Ghost Tree, and the Great Tidepool. Once you reach Carmel-by-the-Sea, you will have some free time explore this quaint seaside town, but not before your guide treats you to your third guided walk of the day. Carmel was first established as a creative retreat for college professors, but was found to be such an inspirational spot that it became home to artist's such as Ansel Adams. Your expert guide will take you through beautiful hidden courtyards and explain some of Carmel's unique history, such as the years when Clint Eastwood was Mayor of the town!
On our way out of Carmel, there will be a final stop at the Carmel Mission before returning back to San Francisco. The church housed in this Mission is one of the oldest buildings in California and this was the second of 21 Missions to be established by Mexico and Spain in California. Upon your return to San Francisco, you have the choice of a drop off at either Union Square or back to where we began at the Ferry Building.
